Humility in Leadership

Scripture: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” — Philippians 2:3

Illustration

In combat, a prideful leader puts everyone at risk. A humble leader listens, serves, and wins loyalty.

Scripture Teaching

Jesus washed His disciples’ feet—the work of a servant. He didn’t cling to His rights but gave them up. If He led with humility, so must we.

Reflection

In the office, humility means crediting others for success. At home, it means serving without being asked. Humility doesn’t weaken leadership—it strengthens trust.

Application

  • Take on one “thankless” task today.
  • Give credit publicly, take responsibility privately.
  • Ask someone else’s opinion before making a call.

Prayer

Lord, make me a servant-leader. Teach me to put others before myself. Amen.
